Grade: Manager

Salary: 77-88k + bonus

Location: London, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle

Their Digital Excellence team is a fast-growing and highly regarded design capability, bringing together a community of researchers, designers, and strategists focused on delivering inclusive, accessible, and impactful digital experiences.


As part of continued growth, they are looking for a Design Strategist to play a key role in shaping client solutions, leading teams, and contributing to the evolution of their design offering.


The Role


This is a hybrid role combining design strategy, consulting, and team leadership.

You will define and shape the vision for products and services, working closely with clients and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are both user-centred and commercially effective. Alongside delivery, you will lead and develop designers while contributing to business growth and capability building.


What You’ll Be Doing


Strategy & Delivery

  • Define product and service strategy using user insight and business objectives
  • Shape end-to-end experiences that are customer-focused, scalable, and commercially viable
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, optimisation, and differentiation
  • Ensure high-quality delivery across design workstreams


Client & Business Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and articulate the value of design
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and client pitches
  • Support the growth of the design practice through thought leadership and external engagement


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary design teams (UX, Service, Content)
  • Support the development and progression of designers
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive team culture
  • Contribute to recruitment, capability building, and community initiatives


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience across design and research, with both hands-on delivery and leadership exposure
  • Proven ability to shape strategy and deliver user-centred digital products or services
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior audiences
  • Experience managing or mentoring multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to balance design thinking with commercial and business outcomes
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional environments
