Trainee Teaching Assistant

Primary School – Tuebrook (L13)Start Date: September 2026

A larger-than-average primary school in Tuebrook is seeking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work within one of its Key Stage 1 (KS1) classrooms.

What will the trainee be doing as part of the role?

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in KS1, you will support teachers with lesson preparation and help to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment for all pupils at a vital stage of their primary education. During lessons, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with classroom activities, assist with behaviour management, and encourage independence and learning.

Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and enthusiasm will be essential in helping pupils to progress, achieve and overcome challenges. You will support all areas of the curriculum, including phonics, maths and science, as directed by the class teacher.

Summary of the Role & Expectations:

  • Support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning
  • Encourage pupils to act independently where appropriate
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and tidy away afterwards
  • Assist the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and report any concerns
  • Support pupils in understanding lesson instructions
  • Assist pupils with the school curriculum, including phonics, maths and other subjects, as directed by the teacher
  • Supervise pupils during lunchtimes
  • Comply with all school policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns to the appropriate person

The Role:

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Includes: 30-minute welfare duty
  • Eligibility: Open to individuals currently studying a TA, CACHE or Childcare qualification
  • Pay: £14.25 – £15.00 per hour
