Job description
Progress Partner (SEN Teaching Assistant) – Leading Independent Special SchoolLocation: Eltham, SE9 (Greater London)
Salary: £20,496 – £23,703 per annum (Actual Salary – Not Pro-Rata)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Term Time Only)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week (38 weeks per year)
Setting: Independent Special School (ASD/SEMH/ADHD)
Are you a resilient and empathetic professional looking to join an Ofsted "Outstanding" specialist environment?
We are seeking an experienced Progress Partner for a prominent Independent Special School in Eltham. This is an all-through provision (ages 4–18) that supports approximately 140 pupils with specialized needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
The School EnvironmentThis is not a mainstream setting. It is a highly specialized private provision where:
- Small Class Sizes: You will work in a setting with only 140 pupils in total across the entire school.
- High Support Ratios: Classrooms typically contain 4–8 students, with staff-to-pupil ratios often reaching 2:1 or 1:1.
- Bespoke Curriculum: The school utilizes a unique "Socio-Education" model that prioritizes emotional development alongside academic achievement.
As a Progress Partner, you will provide 1-1 and small group support to ensure vulnerable young people can access their education.
- Personalized Support: Delivering a differentiated curriculum that meets each student’s EHCP.
- Emotional Coaching: Helping students manage social-emotional factors that act as barriers to their learning.
- Resilience: Staying calm and composed during challenging situations is a core requirement of the role.
- Holiday Benefit: You will enjoy full independent school holidays while receiving a competitive annual salary.
- Experience: Proven experience in an SEN setting (specifically with ASD/SEMH) is essential.
- Qualifications: A background in education, coaching, or therapeutic support is highly valued.
- Mindset: You are a "multi-talented" professional—someone who is as comfortable supporting a student through a crisis as you are helping them with a literacy task.
- Commitment: You are passionate about the "life-changing" impact that specialized education can have.
- Competitive Salary: One of the highest in the specialist sector.
- Professional Growth: Extensive training and opportunities to innovate within your role.
- Wellbeing: Membership in an occupational health scheme and a supportive pension scheme.
Interviews are being held immediately for this role. If you have the resilience and heart to support students in a high-impact SEN setting, we want to hear from you.
Note: This position requires an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
