Job description
The OpportunityDo you have a passion for the outdoors but haven't gained your Lead qualification yet? This is your chance to earn while you learn.
We are seeking an aspiring outdoor educator for a unique "Train to Lead" position in Burnley. We will provide the platform, the mentorship, and the woodland environment for you to develop into a fully qualified Forest School Lead. This is a temp-to-perm role, meaning we are looking to invest in someone who wants a long-term career with our school.
The Training PathwayMentorship: Work directly under experienced educators to learn the "Forest School" ethos.
Qualification Support: Potential for funded or supported enrollment in the Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification for the right candidate.
Hands-on Experience: Assist with sessions immediately, gradually taking on more leadership responsibility as your skills grow.
Assist & Facilitate: Support the daily setup and delivery of outdoor learning sessions (bushcraft, nature art, fire safety).
Student Engagement: Help students particularly those with SEN or behavioral needs re-engage with education through nature.
Safety First: Learn to conduct robust risk assessments and maintain a safe woodland site.
Resource Management: Help maintain tools, equipment, and the natural biodiversity of our outdoor spaces.
The "Right" Attitude: You must be resilient, creative, and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Experience: Some background working with children or young people (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Sports Coach, Youth Worker).
Passion: A genuine interest in environmental conservation and child-led learning.
Commitment: A desire to complete your Level 3 training and transition into a permanent leadership role.
Clearance: Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS check.
Professional Investment: We don't just want a staff member; we want to train a future leader.
Career Progression: Clear salary increases once qualifications are achieved.
Unique Setting: Work in a beautiful Burnley-based outdoor environment rather than behind a desk.
Supportive Team: Join a school that values staff well-being and professional development.
