About the role


We are looking for a Catastrophe Modelling Analyst to join our Insurance clients Exposure Management team in London. This role plays a key part in supporting underwriting and business decision‑making through high‑quality exposure modelling, portfolio analysis and catastrophe risk insight.


You will be responsible for recording and modelling exposure information across allocated portfolios, working closely with Underwriters to support the quoting and aggregation process. The role also involves supporting roll‑ups, regulatory reporting, and post‑event analysis, while contributing to ongoing improvements in data quality and modelling capability.

Key responsibilities


  • Support Underwriting teams by leading the quoting, cleansing and aggregation service for allocated classes
  • Use third‑party catastrophe modelling tools (e.g. AIR, Verisk) to model risks pre‑bind
  • Produce high‑quality modelled outputs for internal and external reporting, including regulatory submissions (e.g. RDS, LCM, Aggregate Monitoring, Outwards RI)
  • Maintain accurate and detailed policy and exposure data within accumulation systems
  • Support roll‑up processes across multiple geographies, ensuring data integrity and consistency
  • Peer review third‑party model outputs and provide guidance on improvements where required
  • Act as a key point of contact for offshore modelling partners, answering queries and providing ongoing guidance
  • Lead training and knowledge transfer for junior analysts and outsourcing partners
  • Support exposure management projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to post‑event exposure and loss potential analysis


Skills and experience


  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Geography, Finance or Economics
  • At least 1 year’s experience using third‑party catastrophe models and/or aggregation tools
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL (R, VBA or Python desirable)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Pyramid) is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex data
  • Well organised, proactive and able to work independently in a time‑critical environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a range of audiences
