UEC Operational Improvement Specialists – NHS Acute (Midlands) – Outside IR35


We are building a high-impact team of Acute UEC Operational Improvement Subject Matter Experts to support a major NHS Acute site in the Midlands, commencing in May.


This is a hands-on, delivery-focused programme where you will work collaboratively as part of a specialist team, while taking ownership of key areas across the Urgent & Emergency Care pathway — from the Front Door through to Site operations.


The programme will run for approximately 20 weeks (Outside IR35) and includes:

  • An initial Discovery phase
  • Implementation and delivery of operational improvements
  • Structured handover to the client, ensuring sustainable, embedded change


The Role

As a UEC Operational Specialist, you will bring recent, senior-level operational expertise within an NHS Acute hospital setting.


You will:

  • Lead and support the day-to-day delivery of operational improvements
  • Work directly alongside operational, nursing, and medical teams
  • Provide hands-on support, coaching and guiding teams in real time
  • Act as a role model for best practice, driving measurable performance improvement

  • Location: Midlands (on-site, 5 days per week)
  • Start Date: Early May
  • Duration: 20 weeks
  • Status: Outside IR35
  • Availability: Ideally available for the full duration


Essential Experience – Please Read Carefully

This role requires proven, hands-on experience at a senior operational level within an NHS Acute hospital. Applications without this experience will not be considered.


You must be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant operational leadership experience within one or more of the following:

-Acute Site Management

-Inpatient Flow

-Emergency Department operations

  • A clear track record of delivering operational performance improvement in an NHS Acute setting
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including working with senior clinical and non-clinical leaders

Desirable

  • Experience working within an improvement consultancy environment
