Immediate Start - Swindon

£89-£105 per day

Academics are working with a number of excellent schools across Swindon who are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their teams. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience while supporting students to improve their engagement and academic progress.

This position is particularly well suited to graduates in Psychology or Criminology, as well as aspiring teachers who are looking to build valuable experience in an educational setting. You will have the chance to work closely with students who may face additional challenges, helping to boost their confidence, attainment, and future prospects.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support for students with special educational needs or those who require extra guidance to stay focused and engaged in lessons.

Many of the students you will support face barriers both inside and outside the classroom and may be at greater risk of negative outcomes. Your role will be vital in providing stability, encouragement, and practical strategies to help them feel safe, valued, and capable of achieving success.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex needs
  • Using your understanding of behaviour and child development to help students engage with learning
  • Building strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and supported
  • Modelling positive behaviour and promoting emotional regulation
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

Ideal Candidate:

  • A genuine interest in SEN, behaviour, or child development
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
