About the Company

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead the design and delivery of electrical systems across a portfolio of residential developments. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient building services solutions.

About the Role

You will play a key role from concept through to completion, ensuring all electrical designs meet regulatory standards, client expectations, and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for residential projects (low-rise, high-rise, and mixed-use developments)
• Manage internal design teams and external consultants
• Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations / BS 7671)
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams
• Oversee load calculations, lighting design, power distribution, fire alarms, and security systems
• Provide technical guidance during procurement and construction phases
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and design deliverables
• Attend design meetings and liaise with clients and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Proven experience in electrical design within residential construction
• Strong knowledge of UK standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671)
• Experience managing design teams or consultants
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux)
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Membership with a professional body such as Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers or working towards chartership

Required Skills

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
• Experience in sustainable design and energy-efficient systems
• Familiarity with smart home technologies and EV charging infrastructure
