Field Sales Controller – FMCG / Food Service


Salary: £65,000 Basic + Bonus + Generous Car Allowance of £7,800 + Excellent Benefits

Remote: (UK-wide field-based role – 3 days per week away from home required)

A leading FMCG organisation is seeking a Field Sales Controller to lead, shape, and drive performance across a national field sales function of 20+ people. This is a senior leadership role with real impact, responsible for delivering sustained growth across both Foodservice and Retail Convenience channels. You will take ownership of field strategy and execution, acting as a key senior leader within the business. The role requires a confident, credible operator who can inspire large teams, set clear direction, and ensure commercial plans are delivered consistently at site level across the UK.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a large national field sales team (20+ individuals)
  • Drive delivery of KPIs across Foodservice and Retail Convenience channels
  • Own and execute the Independent Foodservice growth strategy
  • Take accountability for national field performance, forecasting, and delivery
  • Retain, grow, and reactivate key and lapsed customer accounts
  • Collaborate with senior channel and national account teams on strategy and execution
  • Set and maintain high performance standards across all regions
  • Deliver regular coaching, 1:1s, field accompaniment, and leadership visibility across the team
  • Oversee training, onboarding, and capability development across the field structure
  • Act as a senior field leadership voice within the wider commercial business


Experience

  • Proven experience leading large field sales teams (ideally 10–25+ people) within FMCG
  • Strong background within Foodservice and/or Retail Convenience channels
  • Track record of delivering growth through teams at scale, not just individual contribution
  • Experience operating at Regional Director / Senior Field Sales Manager level or above
  • Strong understanding of national / multi-regional account management (Convenience retail exposure highly desirable)
  • Evidence of influencing senior stakeholders and driving performance through others
  • A credible, confident leader with strong presence and the ability to inspire large teams
