Job description
Owen Reed is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager for a top law firm in London.
This senior role is central to shaping and delivering the firm’s long-term growth strategy. You will be responsible for embedding a modern, data-driven approach to business development—transforming how the firm manages relationships, identifies opportunities, and converts high-value instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of firm-wide business development strategies aligned with growth ambitions
- Champion CRM adoption (e.g., InTapp), designing processes and training programmes that drive measurable behaviour change
- Build a culture of proactive contact management, ensuring partners and fee-earners use insights and touchpoints to deepen client relationships and generate new instructions
- Conduct strategic market and competitor intelligence to identify opportunities, emerging sectors, and referral networks
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on business development priorities and long-term growth planning
- Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, and legal teams to embed a consistent, firm-wide BD approach
The Candidate
The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of commercial awareness, influence, and technical CRM expertise. You will be confident working with senior stakeholders, driving engagement, and leading organisational change initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience designing and implementing contact strategy programmes within professional services
- Strong expertise in CRM systems, including setup, optimisation, reporting, and driving user adoption
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior partners and gain firm-wide buy-in
- Experience translating complex data into actionable business development strategies
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop networks across UHNW/HNW clients, intermediaries, and referrers
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence presenting to senior leadership and boards
- Demonstrated success in delivering revenue growth through structured, insight-led initiatives
- Experience negotiating high-value opportunities or partnerships
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related discipline
