Job description
Full-Stack Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £80,000 + benefits
We have partnered with a well-funded, founder-led technology startup operating in the sports and media space, building next-generation systems for processing and analysing live content in real time.
As the platform scales, they’re hiring a Full-Stack Engineer to design and deliver high-performance systems across real-time data pipelines, modern frontend applications, and AI-enhanced product features.
What You'll Do as a Full-Stack Engineer:
- Design and build resilient, high-throughput backend services in Java that power the movement of data across millions of sporting events each year.
- Architect and maintain real-time event-driven data pipelines and streaming systems at scale.
- Own cloud-native infrastructure decisions, working across serverless and containerised environments to deploy and operate production-grade distributed systems.
- Take end-to-end ownership of real-time video and data delivery across our digital content platform.
- Build and maintain frontend interfaces in TypeScript/React as needed, internal tooling means this is a lighter, cross-functional responsibility.
- Integrate LLM APIs and AI-powered workflows into product functionality, and leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate development.
- Collaborate closely with a small, high-trust team to ship and iterate quickly.
Core Technology Stack:
- Backend: Java, distributed messaging systems, relational databases, Docker, infrastructure as code
- Frontend: TypeScript, modern JavaScript frameworks
- Infrastructure: Cloud-native serverless and containerised environments
- AI Tooling: Regular use of AI-powered development tools and coding assistants
What We’re Looking For in a Full-Stack Engineer:
- A polyglot engineering mindset with the ability to work across multiple languages and systems.
- Strong experience building backend services and distributed systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and contribute to Java-based systems.
- Frontend experience with modern frameworks such as React, Vue, Svelte, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs from leading providers.
- Regular use of AI tools and coding assistants to increase development velocity and automate workflows.
- Strong engineering fundamentals including testing, documentation, security, and performance optimisation.
- Comfort working in fast-moving environments where ownership, clarity, and delivery are expected.
Nice to Have’s as a Full-Stack Engineer:
- Experience in sports technology, live event data systems, or digital media platforms.
- Exposure to streaming technologies or real-time data processing frameworks.
- Strong experience designing data architectures and large-scale distributed systems.
This is a rare opportunity for a Full-Stack Engineer to help shape a real-time digital platform from an early stage, working with modern cloud infrastructure and AI-augmented engineering workflows to deliver high-impact systems.
