Title: Senior Process Engineer / Environmental Process Engineer
Location: Across the UK - Multiple locations
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and practical Environmental Process Engineer/Consultant to support a range of water, wastewater, and sludge treatment projects across the UK.
This is a hands-on, varied role combining site work, technical analysis, and client-facing consultancy. You will work closely with industrial and municipal clients to diagnose process issues, optimise performance, and deliver tailored, real-world solutions.
What the Role Will Look Like
No two weeks are the same, but your responsibilities will typically include:
- Visiting client sites to assess treatment plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and support commissioning activities
- Collecting and analysing water, wastewater, and sludge samples (on-site and in the lab)
- Interpreting operational data and identifying opportunities for process improvement
- Providing practical, implementable recommendations to improve efficiency, compliance, and cost performance
- Supporting commissioning of new or upgraded treatment systems
- Writing clear technical reports and presenting findings to clients
- Managing your own projects from proposal through to delivery, including planning, resourcing, and client communication
- Collaborating with internal teams and external contractors to deliver successful project outcomes
- Supporting the development of standard procedures, quality systems, and health & safety documentation (RAMS, permits, etc.)
- Building strong relationships with clients and contributing to business development activities
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree (BSc/BEng or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in water, wastewater, or environmental consultancy/industry
- Strong understanding of:
Water and wastewater chemistry
Biological treatment processes
Process engineering fundamentals
- Experience working on industrial or water utility sites
- Project management experience (planning, coordination, delivery)
- Confident communicator with experience presenting to clients
- Strong data analysis and report writing skills
- Good understanding of site equipment (e.g. Pumps, mixers, aeration systems)
- Knowledge of health & safety requirements on operational sites (RAMS, permits, inductions)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
