Job description
Adeptus Talent is recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer on behalf of their client, an innovative engineering company delivering sustainable technology that improves efficiency and reduces emissions across the maritime sector.
We’re looking for a hands-on, mission-driven Senior Mechanical Engineer, with a strong focus on manufacturing and production delivery.
This is a rare opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, from early concept design through to detailed manufacturing drawings and real-world hardware. In a small, fast-moving engineering team, you’ll take real ownership of subsystems and see your designs move from CAD to operational systems.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll operate at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and delivery, ensuring engineering solutions are robust, elegant, and production-ready.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the mechanical design and delivery of subsystems from concept through to manufacturing release
- Produce 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and engineering calculations
- Ensure full manufacturability and production readiness of designs in real-world fabrication environments
- Use hands-on manufacturing experience to improve design standards, cost efficiency, and build quality
- Lead resolution of manufacturing and supplier issues to maintain delivery momentum
- Act as the key engineering interface with international suppliers, driving issue resolution and progress
- Review and support junior engineers, ensuring quality and consistency of output
- Champion high standards of engineering integrity, safety, and sustainability
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Structural, Marine Engineering, or similar
- Experience in hands-on mechanical design within a production environment
- Proven experience delivering designs from concept to manufacture in marine, offshore, wind, or similar industries
- Strong 3D CAD capability (Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent)
- Experience with fabrication, welding, and large structural assemblies
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
- Proven ability to reduce cost and optimise designs for production
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-accountability environments
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working with classification or certification bodies (e.g. DNV, Lloyd’s Register)
- Knowledge of structural testing, validation, and manufacturing processes
- Experience working with international suppliers
- Mandarin language skills (advantageous but not essential)
If you’re passionate about sustainability, excited by the opportunity to work on real climate-impact hardware, and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment, we urge you to apply today!
