Data Centre Facilities Supervisor
Location: Chesterfield, England
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Facilities Supervisor to manage and maintain critical infrastructure, ensuring our data centres operate safely, securely, and efficiently at all times.
The Role
As a Data Centre Facilities Supervisor, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and performance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems within a mission-critical environment. You will play a key role in ensuring uptime, compliance, and continuous improvement across all facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure including:
- UPS systems, batteries, generators, PDUs
- CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems
- BMS/EMS monitoring and control systems
- Manage electrical systems:
- High/low voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, grounding
- Manage mechanical systems:
- HVAC, air handling units, ventilation, filtration, humidity and temperature control
- Deliver planned preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM)
- Lead incident response, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis
- Support change management, commissioning, and facility upgrades
- Ensure integration and optimisation of building systems (BMS/EMS, SCADA, alarms)
- Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards (LOTO, permits, fire systems)
- Drive energy efficiency initiatives (PUE, cooling optimisation, sustainability targets)
- Maintain accurate documentation (SOPs, drawings, asset registers, single-line diagrams)
- Manage contractors, vendors, and service agreements
- Support capital projects including planning, budgeting, commissioning, and handover
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- 3–7 years’ experience in data centres or mission-critical environments
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical infrastructure
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of:
- Power systems (mains feeds, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDUs)
- Cooling systems (chillers, CRAC/CRAH, pump skids, HVAC)
- BMS/PMS systems and monitoring tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (SLDs, P&IDs, schematics)
- Knowledge of thermal management, energy efficiency, and data centre best practices
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and data centre environments
Qualifications:
- Electrical or Mechanical qualification (NVQ, ONC/OND, Degree or equivalent)
- Relevant certifications such as IFMA, HVAC-R, or electrical safety training are advantageous

- Experience managing vendors and stakeholders
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members
