Job DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated and commercially curious Procurement Trainee to join our Procurement team based in Lingley, Warrington. This role is designed for an individual who aspires to develop into a Buyer , with a strong interest in commercial decision‐making, supplier relationships, and value for money.
This position offers a structured, in‐house procurement pathway , focused on developing commercial awareness alongside core procurement and purchasing skills. Practical procurement experience is not essential; instead, we are looking for someone with the right attitude, determination, and aptitude to work hard , who wants to build a long‐term career in procurement and buying.
Responsibilities
Purchase Order & Buying Support
Raise, process, and track purchase orders for goods and services.
Support buying decisions through price comparison, supplier communication, and basic commercial analysis.
Supplier & Commercial Support
Assist with supplier onboarding, data management, and ongoing supplier engagement.
Support supplier performance tracking and contribute to value‐for‐money assessments.
Market & Cost Awareness
Assist with market research, benchmarking, and quotation analysis.
Develop an understanding of cost drivers, pricing structures, and commercial risk.
Inventory & Operational Support
Support monitoring of stock levels and coordination of re‐order requirements.
Work closely with operational teams to understand demand and commercial impact.
Documentation, Systems & Governance
Maintain accurate procurement records and update internal systems.
Support compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
Invoice & Financial Controls
Assist with invoice matching and resolution of discrepancies with finance teams.
General Team Support
Provide administrative and analytical support to the procurement team as required.
Qualifications
Under the guidance of experienced procurement professionals, the Procurement Apprentice will gain experience across the following areas:
Buying decisions and price comparison.
Supplier relationship management and onboarding.
Market research, benchmarking and value‐for‐money assessments.
Inventory monitoring and coordination with operational teams.
Procurement documentation, systems maintenance and governance.
Invoice reconciliation and financial controls.
Administrative and analytical support to the procurement team.
