HGV II Driver

Job description

We're looking for a reliable and safety-focused HGV Class 2 Driver to join my clients team in Coventry.

What you'll be doing

* Driving council vehicles across Coventry and surrounding areas

* Supporting services such as waste collection, recycling, street cleaning, and drainage

* Leading and working with a crew to make sure jobs are completed safely and on time

* Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any issues

* Following all road laws, safety rules, and council procedures

* Speaking with members of the public in a polite and helpful way

* Reporting any incidents, near misses, or safety concerns

Key responsibilities

* Ensure your vehicle is safe, clean, and ready for use

* Monitor working hours and follow driving regulations

* Make sure loads are within legal weight limits

* Work closely with supervisors and team members

* Support and guide new drivers when needed

* Follow all site rules when visiting depots or disposal sites

What we're looking for

* A valid Class xbpsjku 2 (Category C) HGV licence (max 6 penalty points)

* A current Driver CPC qualification

* A good understanding of road safety and transport laws

* Experience driving large vehicles in a professional setting

* Ability to work under pressure and stay calm in challenging situations

* Good communication and teamwork skills

* Basic IT skills for completing reports and checks
