In addition, we pay a 15% annual leave entitlement per hour. These rates include preparation and travelling time.We are excited to be hiring new Adult Learning Tutors to join our Surrey Adult Learning Team. This is a zero hours (bank) contract. For the full list of current subject requirements please see paragraphs below.Courses are delivered face‐to‐face in our seven main centres in Guildford, Camberley, Farnham, Woking, Esher Green, Sunbury and Molesey, and remotely in certain subjects where listed below.Subject areas we are hiring for Languages: German (Guildford – Saturdays, Camberley – Weekday daytime/Monday evening), Italian (Esher, Molesey, Camberley, Farnham – Weekday daytime/evening), Spanish (Woking – Thursday & Friday daytime, Guildford – Weekday daytime/evening). We also welcome applications from: British Sign Language, Greek, Japanese.Humanities: Psychology (Guildford – Weekday daytime/evening), Counselling (Weekday daytime/evening).Work Skills and IT: Apple Mac Skills, Digital Skills, WordPress and web design, Social Media marketing, Book‐keeping, Business Administration, Computer programming and coding, Microsoft Office 365.GCSE English, Functional Skills English – current experience of teaching the subject in a classroom to adults is essential.GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Maths – current experience of teaching the subject in a classroom to adults is essential.ESOL – current experience of teaching the subject in a classroom to adults is essential.Arts & Crafts: Basket Weaving, Bookbinding, Jewellery (Guildford & Woking), Life Drawing, Mosaics, Pottery, Print Making, Sewing (for Home and Clothes), Soft Furnishings, Furniture Restoration, Photography, Sculpture (Camberley), Urban Sketching, Woodwork (Molesey), Writing for Children (Guildford).Healthy Living: Cookery tutors with specialisms such as world cuisine, patisserie, or breadmaking (Camberley, Guildford & Molesey – Weekday daytime, evening and Saturdays). Physical Activity tutors including Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Exercise and all forms of Dance (All centres – Weekday daytime, evening and Saturdays). Bridge & Chess tutors (All centres – Weekday daytime, evening and Saturdays).Supported Learning: Digital Skills, Photography & Everyday English (Esher – daytimes); Everyday English, Digital Skills & Woodwork (Molesey – daytimes); Mini Enterprise & Mind, Body and Relationships (Sunbury – daytimes); Digital Skills, Everyday English, Photography & Pottery (Woking – daytimes). Everyday English & maths (Farnham – daytimes).Family Learning: Deliver courses for parents on children and teenager anxiety, children behaviour (including experience of ADHD and autism), maths and English. Family Learning courses are delivered online and face‐to‐face in schools and Family Centres across Surrey. For online learning you will require your own laptop with webcam, quality Wi‐Fi and be proficient with IT.Pathway to Wellbeing: Programme to support learners with wellbeing difficulties. Provide wellbeing activities such as Arts and Crafts, Pottery, Woodwork and Gardening.Support and Management You will be supported by a professional and experienced line manager. Tutors ensure learners are provided with the support to develop and progress their skills, confidence and employment opportunities through a range of teaching and learning.A DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check is required for this role and will be discussed further at interview. Online searches may be carried out on applicants who are shortlisted for interview.About the Team Surrey Adult Learning delivers more than 3 000 courses each year and employs over 200 part‐time tutors. As an Adult Learning Tutor you will be focused on teaching, inspiring and supporting adult learners to successfully complete their course/qualification and progress towards higher level skills.We offer a wide range of courses including English & Maths, ESOL, Arts & Crafts, Languages, Exercise & Dance, Humanities, Work Skills & IT and Cookery. In addition, we have specific courses run by our Supported Learning, Family Learning and Pathway to Wellbeing teams.Shortlisting Criteria Hold a professional UK teaching qualification (minimum Level 3 Award in Education & Training or equivalent). For some subjects we may consider applicants working towards a qualification.Demonstrate qualifications and expertise in your subject area, a love of your subject and a passion for teaching.Commitment to providing excellent learning opportunities for learners and experience of teaching adults in a classroom environment.Ability to adapt teaching and learning strategies and select resources appropriate to meet learner needs.Confidence in the use of IT.Contact Please contact us for any questions relating to the role.
