On behalf of our client, Royal London. We are looking for a Qualified Actuary- Internal Model Validation for a contract until December 2026. It is based in London or Edinburgh, with an option of working remotely.
Job description - the role
Purpose of the role:
The role focuses on independently reviewing and testing the Group's Internal Model to confirm it is robust, appropriate, and meets regulatory expectations. It also involves enhancing the validation framework and conducting wider risk assurance activities to support sound governance and risk oversight.
What you'll do:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the Internal Model Validation (IMV) framework, including policies and supporting documentation.
- Plan and execute validation activities in line with IMV policy, using appropriate tools, methodologies, and testing approaches.
- Produce detailed validation reports, committee papers, and management information (MI) for senior governance and Board oversight.
- Track and monitor remediation actions arising from validation work, ensuring timely resolution and reporting progress.
- Liaise with Internal Audit, external consultants, actuarial, risk, and compliance teams to support validation activities.
- Provide independent risk assurance on financial models, controls, and processes, including stress and scenario analysis.
- Support wider risk management activities, including risk appetite alignment, ORSA input, policy reviews, and embedding of the Risk Management System (RMS)
The skills you'll need:
- Strong business understanding and knowledge of the UK Life and Pensions industry.
- Qualified Actuary.
- Experience of IMV activity and awareness of IMV best practice.
- Strong knowledge of Solvency II in general and awareness of emerging trends in risk and capital management, capital calculation methodology and governance and framework matters.
- Ability to demonstrate challenge to senior financial professionals.
- Strong ability to communicate all aspects of IMV work, in particular the findings and outcomes within reports.
