Scope

This role sits at the core of test operations within a newly constructed hydrogen test facility supporting hydrogen-powered aviation programme. The position carries direct operational accountability for the safe preparation, control, and execution of testing activities on fuel, hydrogen, and nitrogen rigs, operating in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.


Responsibilities

  • Support operational ownership of assigned test rigs
  • Plan, coordinate, and control rig activities in line with approved test procedures and test schedules
  • Ensure rigs are correctly configured, powered, commissioned, and verified prior to test execution
  • Confirm correct supply, control, isolation, and configuration of fuel, hydrogen, and nitrogen systems
  • Conduct and document pre-test safety checks, system validations, and readiness reviews
  • Enforce compliance with safety standards and applicable UK regulations, including COMAH and DSEAR
  • Coordinate closely with test engineers, facility teams, safety representatives, and project stakeholders


Required Experience

  • Proven experience working in rig operations, industrial plant control, or complex gas and fuel system environments
  • Experience operating in a test control, operational authority, or equivalent responsible role
  • Hands-on exposure to pressurised gas systems, fuel systems, or hydrogen infrastructure
  • Experience operating equipment within controlled test or operational environments
  • Experience supporting live testing activities and managing system behavior in real time


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of pressurised systems, gas handling, and fuel-based test infrastructure
  • Experience working with instrumentation and control systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, and HMI/SCADA interfaces
  • High level of safety awareness when operating in hazardous environments, particularly involving hydrogen or fuel systems
  • Understanding of permit-to-work systems and formal safe systems of work
  • Ability to make real-time operational decisions while maintaining safety and procedural compliance
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Methodical, disciplined, and safety-first mindset
