About the role:
This is a hybrid Infrastructure Engineer role combining BAU support with project-driven improvement work. You’ll help maintain a stable, secure environment while contributing to ongoing modernisation across virtualised and cloud platforms.
You’ll play a key role in keeping critical systems running smoothly while also helping drive meaningful improvements across the infrastructure estate. This is a hands-on role where no two days look the same, from solving real-time challenges to delivering enhancements that push the environment forward. You’ll have the opportunity to work across both on-prem and cloud technologies, contributing to a modern, evolving platform while sharpening your skills along the way.
Your responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day infrastructure operations, ensuring performance, stability, and security
- Deliver improvement initiatives to enhance and modernise the environment
- Manage on-prem server infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Administer and optimise VMware environments
- Oversee backup and recovery processes, including testing and restores
- Support and enhance cloud environments across Azure and AWS
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency across infrastructure processes
What we are looking for:
- A well-rounded infrastructure background with strong hands-on experience
- Solid knowledge of VMware, server environments, storage, and backup solutions
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS
- A proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and solve problems end-to-end
- A passion for continuous learning and improving how things are done
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team
- An interest in automation and streamlining operations through modern tooling
Details:
Salary £50,000 + bonus
Work arrangement: Hybrid - 1 day per week on-site
