Lead Privacy Counsel - In-House

SSQ is looking for a Lead Privacy Counsel - In-House

Job description

SSQ are working with a leading technology-first professional services organisation on a senior data and AI legal role within a well-regarded in-house team.

This is a broad, high-impact position sitting across legal, privacy and compliance, with real exposure to AI, complex data use, and strategic decision-making across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drafting and negotiating data processing and data sharing agreements
  • Advising on cutting-edge, data-centred projects (including AI), covering areas such as international transfers, legitimate interests and wider data protection requirements
  • Acting as the lead on data protection matters within the legal team
  • Managing and developing junior privacy lawyers, while supporting colleagues on data-related aspects of their work
  • Helping shape how the business collects, stores and uses personal data, including policy development and interpreting regulatory change, enforcement trends and case law
  • Acting as the UK point of contact within a global network on data privacy matters

What they’re looking for:

  • England & Wales qualified lawyer with solid post-qualification experience (10-20PQE)
  • Strong knowledge of UK/EU data protection law
  • Experience in a commercial, tech or data-heavy environment
  • Pragmatic, solutions-focused and confident working with senior stakeholders

A strong opportunity for someone who wants to manage and lead a team and advise across a real breadth of AI, data and commercial advisory, rather than a narrow privacy remit.
