Join our team as a Principal Environmental Health Officer and play a leading role in delivering high-quality Regulatory Services that protect and enhance our communities. This is a key leadership position focused on driving service improvements, strengthening standards, and achieving positive outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate frontline supervisors across Regulatory Services to deliver strategic objectives
- Oversee enforcement activity, ensuring effective, consistent, and lawful practices
- Investigate complaints, nuisances, and environmental health matters
- Conduct inspections across areas such as Food Safety, Housing, Pollution, and Health & Safety
- Develop and implement policies, systems, and service improvements
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and agencies
- Provide expert advice to senior officers and elected members
- Manage data, reporting, and compliance with statutory and council requirements
- Supervise, mentor, and support staff development and performance
About You:
- Experienced in regulatory enforcement and investigations
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Able to analyse complex information and make sound decisions
- Confident managing workloads and meeting deadlines
A relevant qualification is essential.
