Commercial Transformation Lead

An iconic public sector organisation is currently recruiting for a Commercial Transformation Lead on a 6 month initial contract to support delivery of a major corporate Commercial Transformation Programme.

The rate for this role is 600 - £650 per day umbrella (inside IR35). They are based in Central London and offer hybrid working, with 3 days per week on site required.

About the Role

This is a senior, high‑impact role within a large, complex public sector environment, focused on modernising and strengthening how commercial activity is governed, supported and delivered.

You will play a key role in delivering a corporate‑wide Commercial Transformation Programme and will lead two critical workstreams focused on governance and templates, guidance and training.

This role will be responsible for:

• Leading delivery of a major Commercial Transformation Programme workstream at pace
• Designing and implementing strengthened commercial governance processes, including the establishment of a Corporate Commercial Assurance Board
• Defining Terms of Reference, workflows and proportionate assurance mechanisms across all commercial activity
• Identifying and embedding opportunities for automation to streamline governance and assurance
• Designing and delivering a comprehensive suite of commercial templates for both regulated and non‑regulated activity
• Developing clear, intuitive guidance, processes and workflows to support staff undertaking commercial activity
• Engaging and running workshops with senior stakeholders and commercial leads to ensure solutions are fit for purpose
• Designing and delivering a step‑by‑step commercial guide accessible via SharePoint and intranet platforms
• Leading development and delivery of a commercial training programme, including systems training (Jaggaer and SAP)
• Supporting interdependencies across contract management, procurement, ERP and reporting workstreams
• Advising on reporting, assurance and oversight requirements across the organisation
• Making effective use of Microsoft tools (including SharePoint and reporting platforms) to support adoption and embed change

They are seeking an experienced commercial transformation professional with:

• Significant experience delivering commercial / procurement transformation in the public sector
• Strong understanding of public procurement and governance frameworks
• Proven ability to engage, influence and challenge senior stakeholders
• Experience designing templates, guidance and large‑scale training programmes
• Strong system and process knowledge (Jaggaer, ERP systems such as SAP / Oracle desirable)
• The ability to operate confidently at pace within a complex organisational environment
