LGV Waste Management Driver (Category C)

Job description

£14.82 per hour
Hours: Up to 39.5 per week (including walk-around checks)
Monday to Friday, 06:45 start
Additional Saturday work may be available
Based in Rotherham

Were recruiting a skilledLGV Driverto support the safe and efficient collection of waste and recyclables across residential and commercial areas. You will operate a refuse collection vehicle, lead a small crew, and ensure high standards of customer service and safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a waste collection vehicle safely and efficiently

• Lead, supervise and allocate duties to waste collection crew members

• Carry out daily vehicle walk-around checks and complete defect reports

• Update service information using theBartec in-cab system

• Report contamination, missed collections, and service issues

• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety, Drivers Hours, and environmental regulations

• Perform outdoor manual handling tasks in all weather conditions

• Record accidents/near misses and conduct dynamic risk assessments

• Support other service areas (e.g., highways) when required

Key Requirements

• Category C Licence

• Valid CPC

• Experience in waste operations or specialist vehicle handling

• Physically fit for manual work in all weather

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• Ability to supervise and support a small crew

• Good understanding of Health & Safety and environmental practices

• Comfortable with basic IT systems (Bartec training provided)
