Our Client is a rapidly growing Branded Generics company who put ethical practices and sustainability at the heart of what they do.
Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit a Regional Business Manager to manage a small inexperienced sales team to drive an increase in prescribing for their Ophthalmology products in both London and the Midlands.
Overview
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Regional Business Manager to lead a small, developing field team within the branded generics space. This 12-month contract will focus primarily on ophthalmology products across primary care, alongside a smaller portfolio in pain management.
This role is ideally suited to a leader who enjoys developing junior talent, driving activity in the field, and leading from the front in a competitive, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 junior sales representatives, building capability, confidence, and performance
- Drive high levels of field activity across primary care, with a focus on GPs, practice pharmacists, and local prescribing influencers
- Provide regular in-field coaching, supporting skill development and improving call quality and outcomes
- Support targeted engagement within secondary care (e.g. Ophthalmology clinics, hospital specialists) to influence prescribing pathways
- Implement national sales strategy and translate it into clear, actionable regional plans
- Monitor KPIs, activity levels, and sales performance — intervening quickly to drive improvements
- Foster a high-performance, accountable team culture
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (marketing, market access) to maximise product uptake
- Ensure full compliance with ABPI Code of Practice
Key Requirements
- Experience as a National Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, or Senior Territory Manager ready to step up
- Strong background in primary care sales; ophthalmology experience highly desirable (or ability to learn quickly)
- Experience managing or mentoring junior representatives
- Proven ability to drive activity and performance in a KPI-driven environment
- Exposure to secondary care/hospital interfaces is advantageous
- Commercially aware with good analytical skills
- ABPI qualified
Personal Attributes
- Hands-on leader who leads by example in the field
- Strong coach and developer of people
- Energetic, driven, and comfortable managing a junior team
- Pragmatic and solutions-focused
