Senior Software Engineer


Location: Belfast (Hybrid)

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 (depending on experience)


We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to become the first technical hire in our Belfast office. This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in shaping both the engineering culture and technical direction of a growing team.


About the Role


This is a full-stack position with a strong backend focus (approximately 80%). You’ll be working primarily with modern TypeScript and Node.js, building scalable, reliable systems in a cloud-native environment. As an early hire, you’ll need to be comfortable working independently while also helping define best practices and processes as the team grows.


Key Responsibilities


Design, build, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js

Contribute to frontend development where needed, ensuring seamless full-stack delivery

Architect and deploy cloud-based solutions (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Take ownership of projects from concept through to production

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software

Help establish engineering standards, tooling, and workflows in a new office


Requirements


8–10 years of software engineering experience (6–8 considered for exceptional candidates)

Strong, up-to-date experience with TypeScript and Node.js

Solid experience working with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Proven ability to work across the full stack, with a backend-first mindset

Comfortable working autonomously and taking initiative Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to development
