Quantity Surveyor

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team delivering complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a key commercial role where you’ll take ownership of cost control and contract management from project handover through to final account, working closely with operational teams, clients, and the supply chain.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing budgets, costs, and commercial performance across live projects
• Carrying out site visits, valuing progress, and assessing variations
• Handling contractual and commercial duties including payments, negotiations, and settlements
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and maintaining strong supply chain relationships
• Supporting bid activity including strategy, documentation, and client engagement
• Maintaining risk registers and supporting collaborative problem-solving across project teams
• Mentoring and supporting Assistant/Trainee Quantity Surveyors
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards and project requirements

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or civil engineering
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes
• Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent industry experience
• Experience with valuations, variations, claims, and financial reporting
• Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills
• Comfortable working with MS Office and commercial reporting tools
• A proactive mindset with the ability to manage priorities and solve problems effectively
