Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Scrub

Location: Northwood

37.5 Hours | Permanent

Salary: Up to £40,000 per year (dependent on experience, training, and qualifications)


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Theatre Practitioner specialising in Orthopaedic Scrub to join a busy and supportive surgical team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality perioperative care within orthopaedic procedures, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence at all times.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Scrub Practitioner for a range of orthopaedic procedures, ensuring instruments and equipment are prepared and available
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict infection prevention and control standards
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout procedures
  • Ensure all orthopaedic instrumentation and implants are checked, prepared, and used appropriately
  • Support safe and effective theatre set-up according to specific orthopaedic procedures and patient needs
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient theatre lists
  • Monitor and maintain equipment safety, reporting any faults promptly
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and patient-focused theatre environment


Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience within orthopaedics across scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery
  • Experience or confidence in working as a Scrub Practitioner (orthopaedics preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of orthopaedic procedures, instrumentation, and implants
  • Sound understanding of infection control, patient safety, and perioperative best practice
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering safe surgical care


Working Pattern

  • The hospital is closed on Sundays
  • Flexible working arrangements can be discussed at interview
