Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer
UK Power & Energy Project | Contract - NW, England
We’re supporting a major UK power and energy build and are seeking an experienced Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead electrical commissioning activities through a critical delivery phase.
This is a site‑based, hands‑on role suited to engineers who enjoy ownership, coordination and technical problem‑solving in live commissioning environments.
Key Details
- Contract: Circa 4 months (extension likely)
- Start: ASAP
- Rotation: 10 hours per day | 10 on / 4 off
- Engagement: Ltd Company – Outside IR35
- Rates: Negotiable
- Location: Northwest UK
- Eligibility: Full UK working rights required
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for the planning and execution of electrical commissioning activities, including:
- Developing and executing commissioning plans, procedures and schedules
- Leading inspections, testing and functional performance verification of electrical systems
- Reviewing drawings and technical documentation for compliance with codes and standards
- Coordinating commissioning activities with project, construction and OEM teams
- Managing issue resolution, punch lists and system close‑out
- Producing clear commissioning records, test reports and handover documentation
- Coordinating with permit, LOTO and site safety administrators
- Maintaining strict adherence to EHS and permit‑to‑work requirements
You’ll act as a key technical interface on site, supporting installation teams through to successful system handover.
About You
- Proven experience in electrical commissioning within power generation or heavy process environments
- Strong knowledge of powertrain and balance‑of‑plant systems
- Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); PE / chartered status advantageous
- Confident working with OEMs, contractors and client teams
- Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills
- Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, site‑driven environments
- Full UK working rights
