Site Electrical Commissioning Technician


UK Power & Energy Project | Contract


We’re supporting a major UK power and energy build and are looking for an experienced Site Electrical Commissioning Technician to join the site team during a critical commissioning phase.


This is a hands‑on, site‑based role for technicians who enjoy working on live electrical systems and seeing projects through to successful handover.


Key Details

  • Contract: Circa 4 months (extension possible)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Rotation: 10 hours per day | 10 on / 4 off
  • Engagement: Ltd Company – Outside IR35
  • Rates: Negotiable
  • Location: Northwest UK site
  • Eligibility: Full UK working rights required


The Role

You’ll be responsible for executing electrical commissioning activities on site, including:

  • Hands‑on commissioning of electrical systems and equipment (HV/LV switchgear, transformers, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters)
  • Carrying out testing, fault‑finding, optimisation and system verification
  • Completing commissioning documentation, test sheets and protocols
  • Rectifying electrical issues and closing out punch list items
  • Planning and executing LV isolations in line with site procedures
  • Working closely with engineers, contractors and client representatives
  • Operating strictly in line with EHS, LOTO and permit‑to‑work requirements


You’ll report into the Lead Electrical Engineer and work as part of a wider commissioning team.


About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical commissioning within power stations or heavy process plant environments
  • ONC / OND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Systems
  • Strong understanding of site safety systems and electrical isolation procedures
  • Team‑focused, comfortable working with international and multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear communicator
  • Full UK working rights
