We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established, forward-thinking engineering consultancy. This is a permanent, full-time position operating within an agile working framework.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role within the team, with a high degree of autonomy. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Project Leader on selected projects
  • Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Attending client and principal meetings, including delivering presentations
  • Promoting technical excellence within the mechanical engineering discipline
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Developing client relationships and contributing to repeat business
  • Working across a variety of technically challenging projects
  • Being client-facing throughout all project stages, from inception to completion
  • Producing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Completing or overseeing engineering calculations


Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • HNC/HND candidates with relevant design experience will also be considered
  • Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership
  • Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in building services design (post-qualification)
  • Experience with software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech, and Revit
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g. British/European Standards, Building Regulations)
  • Familiarity with HTMs (desirable)
  • Professional membership (e.g. CIBSE, IET) preferred
  • Understanding of HV/LV systems and embedded generation
  • Experience with renewable technologies and sustainable design
  • Working knowledge of BREEAM
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proactive attitude with a desire to learn and develop
