Practicus is looking for a Technical Operations Specialist

Job description

Interim Technical Operations Specialist

Contract Length: 6 Months

Day Rate: £400 (Inside IR35)

Location: Hybrid (one day per fortnight required in the office, Slough).

The Opportunity

We are delighted to be partnering with a longstanding client, a leading global pharmaceutical organisation, to source an experienced Technical Operations Specialist for a critical 6-month interim contract. This role has been created to support the department during a period of transition and to bridge a key technical knowledge gap within the team.

Our client is currently managing several high-profile technical projects, including complex CMO transfers and new product introductions.

The Role

This is a hands-on technical role focused on non-artwork technical projects. You will lead and support projects involving manufacturing lines, componentry, and technical specifications, ensuring that all product builds - such as vials and other primary packaging - meet rigorous standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CMO Management: Actively manage 4–5 different Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs) to ensure they adhere to specifications and meet validation requirements.
  • Technical Transfers & Launches: Lead technical activities related to product launches and transfers within Europe, including the setup of new lines and the oversight of manufacturing and packaging operations.
  • Validation Oversight: Review and approve validation activities related to packaging and manufacturing processes.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with internal Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams to ensure project milestones are met and all technical documentation is compliant.
  • Global Coordination: Liaise with the client’s global headquarters to coordinate component specifications and relay technical changes from CMOs.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for materials, equipment, and tooling requirements, and lead problem-solving efforts for manufacturing or testing issues.

The Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for a seasoned pharmaceutical professional who can "hit the ground running." You will bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical technical operations.
  • Proven expertise in changing CMOs, validation processes, and setting up manufacturing lines.
  • A strong technical understanding of manufacturing and packaging processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience managing serialisation and anti-counterfeiting projects is highly desirable.
  • The ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment and manage multiple tight deadlines.

If you are a highly technical pharmaceutical operations professional looking for a challenging interim role with a prestigious global leader, we would love to hear from you.
