Learning Support Assistant - Winchester

Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring and dependable Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Winchester area. This long-term role focuses on supporting children who may need additional help with learning, concentration, confidence, emotional regulation, or accessing lessons effectively.

You will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide consistent assistance throughout the school day. Your role will help pupils feel supported, engaged, and able to take part in learning within a calm, structured classroom environment.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in support roles, care, youth work, SEN settings, or for graduates looking to build meaningful experience in education, psychology, or child-related careers.

The Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who require extra assistance
  • Support pupils with classroom activities, routines, and learning tasks
  • Help students remain focused, calm, and engaged in lessons
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers to support learning strategies
  • Assist with emotional regulation and social development
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Calm, patient, and confident supporting varied learning needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adaptable, reliable, and supportive in a classroom setting
  • Passionate about helping young people succeed
  • Psychology, education, or child-related graduates encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
  • Position: Learning Support Assistant
  • Location: Winchester
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Hours: Full-time, term-time
  • Pay Rate:£14.66 - £15.66 per hour
  • Contract: Long-term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
  • Experience with children preferred
  • SEN experience beneficial but not required
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
Eligibility:
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two relevant references
