SEND Teaching Assistant – Leyland
Length of role: Temp to Perm starting September 2026
Pay rate: £14.25–£16.00 per hour

About the RoleYou will be working within the SEND classroom of a mainstream primary school, providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with ASC and SEMH needs. This role requires patience, consistency and a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to deliver tailored interventions and create a positive, structured learning environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 support for pupils with ASC and SEMH
Assist with personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies
Help create a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Contribute to progress tracking and pupil observations
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASC and SEMH
A calm, resilient and empathetic approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to follow structured support plans and adapt to individual needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
