Location: Brent, North West London (and surrounding NW London schools)

Start: ASAP

Contract: Full-time / Long-term / Temp-to-perm opportunities available

Pay: Competitive daily rate depending on experience

About the role

We are urgently recruiting Behaviour & Pastoral Teaching Assistants for immediate starts across mainstream secondary schools in Brent and the wider North West London area.

These roles sit within pastoral and inclusion teams, supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will be working closely with young people who may present with SEMH needs, including emotional dysregulation and challenging behaviour, requiring consistent, relational and trauma-informed support.

This is a highly relational, youth-work style role where you will act as a trusted adult, mentor, and positive role model both inside and outside the classroom, supporting pupils to re-engage with learning and school life.

Key responsibilities

Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs

Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring-style support

Supporting de-escalation and behaviour regulation strategies

Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils

Encouraging engagement in learning and school routines

Working closely with pastoral, SEN, and safeguarding teams

Acting as a calm, consistent and positive adult presence throughout the school day

About you

We are looking for individuals who are confident working with young people in challenging environments and available for an immediate start.

Experience in youth work, mentoring, community outreach, sports coaching, behaviour support, PRUs, alternative provisions, or similar youth-facing roles is highly desirable.

You will be calm under pressure, confident managing behaviour, skilled in building strong relationships with young people, resilient and consistent in your approach, and motivated by making a meaningful impact in education settings.

This role is particularly well suited to individuals with a strong background in relational youth work and those looking to transition into school-based pastoral or behaviour support roles.
