SEND Teaching Assistant
- Annual Salary: £95 per day minimum
- Location: Plymouth, Devon
- Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a dedicated and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team, supporting pupils across both primary and secondary age groups who have additional learning and emotional needs. This role is ideal for applicants with experience in education as well as those with strong transferable skills who are motivated to work within a specialist SEND setting.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work alongside teaching staff to support pupils in accessing learning, developing confidence, and remaining emotionally regulated throughout the school day.
- Provide support on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the wider classroom, depending on individual needs.
- Display patience, flexibility, and a calm, consistent approach, with the ability to adapt support strategies to suit different pupils and situations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Calm, patient, and understanding demeanour.
- Confident in supporting children and young people with SEND.
- Flexible and able to adapt to a range of learning and emotional needs.
- Comfortable working across both primary and secondary settings.
- Experience in education, care, or support roles is beneficial, or able to demonstrate relevant transferable skills.
- Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential, as the school is happy to consider candidates from care, youth work, or similar backgrounds.
