SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary PRULocation: Blackley, ManchesterStart Date: ASAPContract: Full-time (term-time only) We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Blackley, Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, tailored learning activities
  • Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional development
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in a school or similar setting)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Team Teach training
  • Experience within a PRU or alternative provision setting
