Creative Arts Teaching Assistant

A creative and forward-thinking secondary SEN provision in Hammersmith is seeking a Creative Arts Teaching Assistant to bring energy, expression, and imagination into the classroom.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in music, drama, or visual arts who wants to use creativity as a tool to engage learners with additional needs. Many pupils respond best through practical, sensory and performance-based activities-so your input will be central to their progress and confidence.

• Supporting delivery of creative arts-based learning sessions
• Encouraging student participation in music, drama, and art activities
• Working 1:1 and in small groups to build confidence and communication
• Helping adapt creative projects to suit a range of learning needs
• Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation through structured creativity

• Every day is different-no rigid teaching scripts
• Strong emphasis on creativity over traditional classroom methods
• Highly supportive SEN team and experienced teachers
• Excellent stepping stone into art therapy, teaching or SEN careers

• Background or strong interest in creative arts (professional or academic)
• Experience working with young people (SEN experience preferred)
• A proactive, energetic and patient personality
• Confidence to lead or support group creative activities
