Are you an experienced Finance & Administration Manager looking for a temporary to permanent opportunity in a supportive East London primary school? This is a pivotal leadership support role offering real influence, variety, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact within a school community.

The school is seeking a proactive, organised and commercially-minded professional to lead its finance and administration function. Reporting to the Headteacher and working closely with federation colleagues, you will be at the heart of the school’s operations — ensuring strong financial control, effective systems and well-managed support services.

This role combines hands-on operational management with strategic oversight, enabling teaching staff to focus on delivering high-quality education while you ensure the school runs efficiently, compliantly and smoothly day to day.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead financial management, budgeting, monitoring and reporting
  • Oversee premises, compliance, health & safety and operational services
  • Manage HR administration and act as liaison with payroll
  • Oversee catering services and school lettings
  • Line manage diverse teams, driving high standards and continuous improvement
  • Work in close partnership with senior leaders, governors and external stakeholders

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong school-based or education-sector experience who enjoys responsibility, leadership and variety — with the longer-term security of a potential permanent role.

About You

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in a finance, administration or school business management role
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting
  • Experience line managing staff and leading operational teams
  • Good working knowledge of HR administration, safeguarding and payroll processes
  • A strong understanding of compliance, health & safety and data protection
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Experience in a primary school or federated setting
  • Knowledge of Local Authority education finance systems
  • A relevant professional qualification (finance, business management or administration)
