The OpportunityAre you a resilient and trauma-informed individual looking to support vulnerable learners in Blackpool? We are seeking an SEMH Support Mentor to join our specialist team this May.
This is a Temp-to-Perm position, meaning you will start on a temporary basis to ensure the school and the student are the right fit for you, with a direct pathway to a permanent contract and long-term career stability. You will be working in an environment where "behaviour is communication," supporting students who face challenges with emotional regulation and mental health.
Key Responsibilities1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide bespoke emotional and academic support to students with identified SEMH needs.

Trauma-Informed Practice: Use nurturing and de-escalation strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour safely.

Barrier Removal: Identify and address barriers to learning, helping students re-engage with their education and build self-esteem.
Collaborative Care: Work alongside the SENCO, Educational Psychologists, and Pastoral leads to implement personalised intervention plans.
Classroom Integration: Support the Class Teacher in maintaining a calm and predictable learning environment for all students.
Resilience: The ability to remain calm and professional in the face of challenging behaviour.

Backgrounds: We welcome applications from Qualified TAs (Level 2/3) or Unqualified individuals with experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or psychology.

Compliance: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to undergo a full background check.
