Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and reach their full potential?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Youth Worker to join a specialist school in Oxford that supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, and mental health challenges.

About the Role: As a Youth Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. You will help them develop positive routines, build coping strategies, and manage their emotions in a safe and structured environment. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will contribute to creating a consistent and supportive experience for each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with behavioural needs and SEMH challenges on a day-to-day basis
  • Assist in implementing personalised intervention plans tailored to individual students
  • Promote positive routines and help students develop effective regulation techniques
  • Provide emotional support and act as a positive role model
  • Support students in understanding and working towards the outcomes outlined in their EHCPs
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people
  • Is patient, resilient, and empathetic
  • Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Backgrounds in youth work, coaching, or support work would be advantageous but also not essential

What the School Offers:

  • A supportive and experienced team environment
  • Opportunities for professional development and training
  • A chance to gain valuable experience within a specialist education setting
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's lives
