Job Title: International Freight Forwarding Specialist-Permanent or contract opportunity

Reports To: Logistics Manager / Operations Manager
Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive International Freight Forwarding Specialist to manage and coordinate global shipments across air, sea, and road transport. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and supply chain operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate end-to-end international shipments (import and export) via air, ocean, and road freight
Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations
Liaise with carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth shipment execution
Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve delays, disruptions, or compliance issues
Send out requests for Information to clients and answer questions raised
Send out spot quotes for delivery via Air, land or sea as appropriate.
Deal efficiently with time critical deliveries and issue quotes quickly and competitively.
Plan the best routes for client requirements. Asses the goods being transported and review carrier costs, timescales, security etc.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies
Calculate freight costs, prepare quotations, and manage invoicing processes
Maintain accurate shipment records and update internal systems
Communicate with clients to provide shipment updates, resolve queries, and deliver high-quality customer service
Negotiate rates and service agreements with carriers and vendors
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce transportation costs
Required Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience in International freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations
Strong understanding of international shipping procedures and Incoterms
Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export compliance
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in logistics or supply chain management
Experience working with global carriers and freight management systems
Knowledge of dangerous goods handling regulations (IATA/IMDG)
Multilingual skills are an advantage
