Clinical Photographer / Trainee Clinical Photographer As a Clinical Photographer, you will be providing a high‐quality photographic service for one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. You will work as part of a progressive, collaborative team providing standardised clinical photographs for medical records, teaching and publication. In addition, you will provide corporate and public relations photographs for the Trust's Communications Team that can appear on the Trust's social media channels, the BBC, Oxford Mail and beyond.The Trust comprises four hospitals – the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury. OMI primarily cover the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, which are within walking distance of each other.Main duties of the job Clinical Photographers provide comprehensive, standardised high‐quality clinical photographs which form part of patients' medical records, (and with consent) teaching and publication.Day to day, Clinical Photographers work either from a dedicated clinical photography studio, on the wards, in surgical theatre or outpatient clinics. No two days are the same.Clinical Photographers photograph a range of clinical subjects such as (but not limited to):Dermatological conditionsChronic woundsNon‐accidental injuries / safeguarding enquiriesDental / facial reconstructionsPre and post operative surgeryClinical Photographers also provide high quality public‐relations images for the Trust's communications team and external partners such as:Good news storiesRecruitment campaignsStock imagery for the design teamJob responsibilities The job description applies to qualified Clinical Photographers. Trainees receive a percentage of the band 5 salary and undertake on‐the‐job training, fully funded by Oxford Medical Illustration, to gain a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography as a condition of employment. Upon completion, the trainee can be offered a permanent contract.Qualifications and Education A degree in Medical Illustration or Clinical Photography, or a degree in Photography with additional Clinical Photography knowledge, skills and experience.Evidence of continued professional development.Experience Experience of clinical, general and scientific photography.Knowledge of health and safety regulations.High computer literacy and in‐depth knowledge of digital photography and image management software.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Wide knowledge and understanding of clinical and general photographic techniques and procedures.Sound knowledge of clinical conditions, anatomy and physiology.Demonstrated compassion and care in working environments.Ability to produce standardised and demonstrative clinical photographs.Ability to produce public‐relations photographs.Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.Contract PermanentWorking pattern Full‐timeReference number 321-CENT-7613718-B5Salary £32,073 to £39,043 per annum (Band 5 or Trainee Band 5, pro rata).Job locations John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU
