Service Area: Children’s Residential Homes

Pay:

  • Basic hourly rate £14.13 AWR rate enhancement after 12 weeks (following AWR rules)
  • Enhancements include:
  • Night enhancement (time and a third after 10pm)
  • Weekend enhancement (time and a half)

Hours & Shifts:

Flexible, shift-based work to meet the needs of the service, including:

  • Early mornings, late nights
  • Weekends and bank holidays
  • Potential sleep-in shifts

Roles available:

  • Day shifts (full-time or part-time temporary work)
  • Wake night role (12-hour shifts)

The Role:

Working under the guidance of the Registered Manager, Senior Staff and Care Officers, you will support children and young people by delivering a high standard of care that meets their individual emotional, social and physical needs. This is supporting children with disabilities (may have personal care requirements) or children placed within mainstream residential. As per client request, you must have experience of this.

You will:

  • Build positive, consistent relationships with children and young people
  • Support young people who may present challenging behaviour
  • Provide additional cover to existing staff teams on an as-and-when basis

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working in a similar role or working with vulnerable children in a care setting. (Essential)
  • NVQ level 3 in childcare and de-escalation training (Desirable)

  • Provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
  • Encourage choice and introduce young people to new experiences
  • Support health care appointments and personal care where appropriate
  • Plan and engage in daily activities, celebrations and outings
  • Support education and encourage aspirations
  • Work positively with families and key professionals
  • Maintain high standards within the home (basic domestic duties)
  • Complete daily records and use electronic recording systems
  • Participate in training and ongoing development
  • Follow Doncaster City Council policies and health & safety procedures
