Inclusion Mentor/Behaviour Support

Salary: Competitive day rate based on Pro RataHours: 37.5 hours per week, term-time only (8.00am–4.00pm)Start date: As soon as possibleLocation: West Sussex (11–18 secondary school)

An ambitious and inclusive secondary school on the south coast of West Sussex is seeking to appoint a confident, enthusiastic and resilient Inclusion Mentor to support students facing barriers to learning and engagement.

This role is based within a School Provision, working as part of a committed and experienced team. You will support vulnerable and sometimes challenging students, helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

As an Inclusion Mentor, you will:

  • Support students at risk of exclusion to overcome barriers to learning
  • Work with individuals and small groups to improve behaviour, self-esteem and engagement
  • Deliver and support structured interventions, including literacy and numeracy
  • Help students develop independence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents/carers and external agencies
  • Promote student wellbeing, inclusion and safeguarding at all times

The Ideal Candidate

You will be:

  • Calm, patient and consistent, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people
  • Confident in managing behaviour and supporting students in challenging circumstances
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team and independently
  • Passionate about inclusion and committed to helping every young person succeed

Essential requirements:

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • Ability to work positively with children and young people
  • DBS on the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or with young people
  • Experience supporting students with social, emotional or behavioural needs
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
