SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant – AycliffeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Aycliffe. This role involves working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those requiring additional emotional, social, and behavioural support within a nurture provision.
You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn by providing consistent support and building positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
- Provide one-to-one and small group support within the nurture setting
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
- Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with personal development, social skills, and independence
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals where required
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
