We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Axe Valley Vets on a part-time basis.

Join Axe Valley Vets, a well-equipped and progressive veterinary group with a friendly, supportive team. We offer a wide range of diagnostic and clinical facilities, including endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography (including dental), and an in-house laboratory.

Located in rural Somerset, our practices are surrounded by beautiful countryside, with scenic walks in Blackford and easy access to the coast at Weston.

Our team currently includes 9 Veterinary Surgeons (with certificate holders in medicine and surgery), 8 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Nursing Assistants, and 18 dedicated support staff.

How You'll Make a DifferenceAs a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You'll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

The role will involve working across multiple sites, 32 hours a week, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. Shifts are 8 hours per day, 4 days per week, ranging from 7 am to 7 pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. We offer an attractive weekend rota; 1 in 9 at our Blackford branch; 8:30 am-1 pm Saturday and 8:30 am-10:30 am on Sunday, both days include being on call until 7 pm. Weekend shifts are paid on top of the normal salary. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to come to work, too.

You Might Be a Great Fit If

Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS

Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively

A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
