HGV Class 1 Driver Ad-Hoc & Ongoing Work (Rugby / Midlands)

We are recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers for ad-hoc and ongoing work supporting a well-established logistics operation based in the Midlands. This role offers consistent year-round work with a mix of trunking, general haulage, and occasional long-distance driving.

The Role

• Predominantly ad-hoc Class 1 driving work with steady year-round demand
• General haulage of palletised goods including beverages, confectionery, solar panels, and other freight
• Minimal handball required, with loads secured using ratchet and strap systems
• Warehouse teams are responsible for all loading and unloading
• Occasional container work (approximately once per month) for short assignments

Journey Types

• Mainly trunking between depots and distribution centres
• Mix of collections and deliveries
• Limited multidrop work
• Occasional long-distance routes (e.g. Inverness)
• London routes are generally covered by in-house drivers but may be offered where required

Shift Patterns

• Monday to Friday operation, with occasional weekend work
• Start times typically between 04:00 and 09:00
• Average shift length of approximately 7 hours (paid minimum 8 hours)
• Maximum shift length up to 10 hours, excluding nights out

Nights Out

• Occasional nights out, approximately one every 810 days
• Offered depending on route requirements and driver preference
• Always communicated in advance

Demand & Work Stability

• Consistent year-round demand with regular daily requirements
• Minor seasonal slowdown typically in early January
• Flexible workload depending on operational needs

Induction

• No formal driving assessment required
• Full onboarding support provided

LTD Drivers Required - £19 to £22 per hour. (Monday - Friday)
