About the Role


We are working with Kettering General Hospital to recruit a Band 5 Higher Level Pharmacy Technician to join their Pharmacy Production Unit.

This is a key role supporting the delivery of a safe and efficient chemotherapy and aseptic production service, ensuring patients receive timely access to specialist medications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the production and chemotherapy service
  • Prepare and dispense cytotoxic and aseptic medicines, including intravenous, intramuscular, and intrathecal treatments
  • Undertake final accuracy checking of dispensed items, including chemotherapy
  • Work within cleanroom/isolator environments in line with departmental procedures and safety standards
  • Produce worksheets and labels using pharmacy IT systems
  • Support the preparation of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) for adults and neonates
  • Supervise and support junior staff, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work
  • Liaise with consultants, nursing staff, and wider MDT to ensure timely supply of medicines
  • Contribute to audit, service improvement, and clinical governance activities


This is a varied role combining technical production, supervision, and patient-focused pharmacy services.


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • GPhC registration
  • Recent experience in a hospital aseptic or production environment
  • Experience in final accuracy checking
  • Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work accurately in a pressurised clinical environment


Desirable

  • Experience working with chemotherapy or cytotoxic medicines
  • Experience supervising or training staff
  • Knowledge of TPN preparation
  • Experience in audit or service development
