Commissioning Engineer
Location - Plymouth, UK
Lenght- 12-Month Initial Contract
We’re supporting a major cleanroom and high-spec manufacturing project and are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a long-term programme in Plymouth.
This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex systems within a highly regulated environment, supporting commissioning, system integration, start-up, and final handover activities across a large-scale engineering project.
The position would suit a hands-on commissioning professional with experience across HVAC, cleanroom environments, utilities, and process systems, who enjoys problem-solving and wants to play a key role in project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute hands-on commissioning activities across HVAC, cleanrooms, utilities, and process systems
- Support system start-up, integration, testing, optimisation, and fault finding
- Ensure systems are fully operational and ready for handover
- Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning and start-up phases
- Work closely with engineering, automation, construction, and validation teams
- Support development and execution of commissioning documentation, test scripts, and reports
- Interface with BMS, PLC, and SCADA systems during commissioning activities
- Assist with coordination of commissioning activities, schedules, and project delivery milestones
- Support transition from construction through commissioning into operational readiness
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards within a regulated environment
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Commissioning Engineer, C&I, or HVAC commissioning role
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical, cleanroom, life sciences, or other controlled environments
- Strong hands-on commissioning capability with the ability to commission systems end-to-end
- Good understanding of HVAC systems, clean utilities, process gases, and controlled environments
- Exposure to BMS, PLC, or SCADA systems would be beneficial
- Experience producing commissioning documentation and technical reports
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
- Someone motivated to progress into a senior or managerial role over time
